October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM)

Every October, since 1987, advocates across the country join together to mourn those who have lost their lives because of abuse, celebrate the resilience and strength of survivors, and connect all those working together to end domestic violence.
DVAM is a time to think about all victims throughout the world who suffer each day. We are very proud and honor the progress we’ve made so far in SWLA, but we must recommit ourselves to the work still left to do. Each time you see the purple ribbons, remember that education, awareness and community support for programs like Oasis can help to end domestic violence.
